This time of year is forever inspiring for me; I feel the earth roll over in her winter slumber, sighing in her sleep. For me this is a time to breathe life into old projects that have become stale and create new ideas that will birth fully developed with the spring grass. This inspiration also brings questions. Do I need to change locations or make a shift in my hobbies or career? What do I want the structure of my life to look like in 2020?
I have a great tool that gives me a bird’s eye view of what is working for me and what I am ready to do without, as it is generally easier to enhance what is already manifesting than to create things when lacking crystal clear vision. Here is an easy, effective exercise that can be done any time one is seeking clarity in general or for a specific situation.
The Sacred Circle.
Gather some of your favorite stones or statues, whatever feels sacred to you, it may be as simple as a small candle or a cup of tea. Grab any size plain sheet of paper and a pen or some of your favorite color pencils, whatever inspires you. Sit quietly for a few minutes with gratitude in your heart for what has served you in the past that has grown stale and the things you would like to strengthen in any area of your life. Draw a circle in the center of the paper. Inside the circle, write the things in your life that are working for you, the things you want to strengthen. Outside the circle, write the things in your life that you are ready to transform or set free, be it a job, a habit, or a person.
This is a powerful exercise when done with reverence, so take your time and with each item you note outside the circle, thank that experience or person for the lessons they brought to your soul, even if you can’t see those lessons yet. When you have completed the exercise, bundle or fold the paper. I like to sprinkle seeds and tobacco inside. When your bundle is complete, either ritualistically bury it in a place that is special to you or safely burn it.
When you bury a sacred bundle the energies are released in a gentle sustained manner. When you choose to burn your bundle, hold onto your hat, as this can create a path for energies to move swiftly and powerfully. Either way, do not underestimate the power in this ceremony, so choose carefully what you write outside of your sacred circle as well as within. The sacred circle not only helps you to move energies, it offers you a greater view of your life. May you be surprised by the abundance of things inside your sacred circle.
Happy New Year
