A beautiful dear friend of mine just turned 50, she is the first of our little squad to welcome the milestone. I join her at the end of this month. To celebriate early, we met and rallied in Amana, Iowa for Octoberfest. It was glorious, we have stories and pictures that I won’t bore you with (smile). Instead, I thought I would share something we were given while the ladies visited Santa Fe around this time last year. We were wrangled by the Dream Poet for Hire, Marshall James Kavanaugh, in the Santa Fe Square and he spontaneously created and typed the following poem for us:
CELEBRATIONS
dressed to impress the lightweight of desert
mocassins so the feet float above the adobe brick
spirits of tequila
creating fiesta
sisters feeling the youth
of their converging
green chile as an appetizer
the ancient trade routes
drumming up a luxurious
glow of the sun
through the winter
finding this bridge between heartbeats is what gives
so much to each occasion together
so that times apart
are left with longing
for the next celebration
Happy Holidays – I hope the season fills your heart so full that love just spills out.
